In February this year the Fishmongers Company of London sponsered me to visit fishing ports throughout the country and have a discussion with fishermen on the practical realities of fishing with electric as a fuel. The Fishmongers company founded in 1272 is one of Londons oldest Companies, 'one of the great twelve' and highly respected within the city. Their mission nowadays, amongst many business ventures, includes working towards securing the future of the UK fishing and wholesale industry. They have taken an interest in my boat since its entry on to the UK fishing fleet.
Early in the new year we discussed how Fishmongers could help support or promote the concept and practical reality of fishing with battery electric as a fuel. In conjunction with Kara Brydson of Fishing Innovation and Sustainability we reckoned that face to face talks with fishermen would at this stage be a good way of raising interest, discussion and consideration.
Though attendace varied between zero and twenty three, I got some really good feedback from these talks, some real interest and very little in the way of pushback.
