The boat, the project and the Film It'll Never Work are in the final of the Innovation award, to be deceided on the 20th November. I am really pleased that it is getting this kind of national recognition.
The MSPs Emma Roddick, Jenni Minto and Tim Eagle have all taken an interest and hope to be able to clear a path for further uptake from other fishermen.
After two and a half years fishing, the boat speaks for itself. There are some great stats coming out now with hugely reduced running costs topping the bill.
50 working days through the summer cost £2/day in electric with the boat covering on average 24 miles/day and 7 hours /day.
The maintenance costs have been axed with virtually no cost at all.
It is 2 1/2 years since i have changed a fuel filter or done an oil change with no repairs needed to any of the propullsion gear.
In my mind this is not only useable and viable as a working boat, it is in many ways clearly better to work on and with than the diesel alternative
