I am really chuffed to promote local resuarant Lucy's at the Steamer who can put out the world's cleanest, greenest and possibly the cheapest lobster rolls for under a tenner.
A big part of what I am doing with this boat is trying to promote and encourage local markets. Unlike most of the food we eat, shellfish and fish carry a very low footprint of emmissions in getting to maturity. If they are caught from a boat that also has a very low impact or fossil fuel use then we have access to a local food source that carries almost no carbon history. If this is then marketed locally we have just about the cleanest low impact food source it is possible to get.
The vast majority of what I catch is sold locally to selected outlets and also direct from the boat.
This means that I can sell my catch at a very competitive price and still return as well as my fossil fuelled collegues.
Further boats fishing with electric would be able to supply the demand for clean, green seafood being encouraged by retailers which will definitely command a higher prices.
